Our Story

Dulu Deli is a licensed home kitchen in Melbourne run by Chooi-Si. It all began with the simple joy of making food to share with friends and family. Missing her home country Malaysia and its proclaimed love for food, Dulu Deli became the platform to reconnect with her heritage through the language of Southeast Asian flavours. The Malay word “Dulu” means “the past”, bringing forth signature classics inspired by memories in the form of your local deli.

The home deli is best known for its signature kaya (coconut caramel) which is inspired by childhood memories and stories of Chooi-Si’s grandfather who ran a bakery in Taiping. Once upon a time, her grandfather used free range duck eggs before chicken eggs were commercialised - to which her parents would reminisce about how much more flavourful kaya was back in the day! Staying true to tradition, Dulu Deli continues to make kaya in the method of her grandparents generation, all for the love of nostalgia and timeless flavour!

Ingredients and Sustainability

We aspire to give you fresh flavours with minimal food waste based on a make-to-order system. All our food is made from scratch using artisanal methods - some even with self preserving techniques from generations ago. Absolutely no added preservatives or additives because our grandparents knew best!

Quality ingredients are handpicked with sustainability in mind, supporting local producers and growers.

We also accept jar returns and prioritise recyclable and home compostable packaging to do our part for a greener planet.

Food to Share

We believe food tastes best when shared with good company! Bring some deliciously bold flavours to your table - just in time for the weekend.
